Jay cool is a...
Jay Cool has been writing and playing music most of his life. After getting his first guitar at the age of 16, he went on to take Music Theory and related courses at the University Of Hawaii with a major in Liberal Arts. He is an accomplished composer and arranger and has written many, many songs over the last 23+ years.
Jay Cool has produced several songs both independently and with bands. His first major public musical release was in the form of a 7-song CD with a band called VITREOUS hailing from the Washington DC/Fairfax Virginia area. Jay Cool was instrumental in seeing that project through to it's completion and continues to work with VITREOUS and is it's only remaining original member from it's 2008 line-up. He currently has several projects underway and will "continue to write and produce music until I am dead".
Jay Cool has played with only a handful of musicians in his music career but the ones that he did participate in were instrumental in forming his style, direction and focus in later work. He has performed at several venues in the Northern Virginia/Maryland area as a guitarist for VITREOUS. He is currently the remaining guitarist for that band and is expecting to tour with the group in 2012.
When Jay is not writing, playing or acting as a Roadie/Tour Manager/Booking Agent for other local area bands, he performs his day job as an Engineer with master skills in Web Development using HTML, PHP, CSS, SQL as well as other programming languages. He is an AMX NetLinx and G4 Touch Panel developer and has completed engineering designs for major command centers involving complex video/audio signal switching and display capabilities deployed world-wide. He has also worked as a Network Designer developing small to medium sized mixed-platform networks also deployed around the globe. He is a master of AutoCAD having his first exposure to it with AutoSketch in the early 90s and has worked many years as a Drafting Specialist and CADD Manager. Jay plays with Micro-controller Programming and Automation projects in his spare time and hand codes many web sites of his own as well as for others. Well versed in Linux, Windows and OS X, he is comfortable behind any computer and can fix what is broken where others fail. A perfectionist, focus is on reducing costs & production times while increasing performance and improving production output while maintaining high quality and compliance standards. He has developed ISO 9001 Process Documentation and was instrumental in creating now flag-ship ruggedized server/workstation/storage products for a local Virginia computer company that pass military shock-and-vibe standards such as MIL-STD-810(E). He has developed rack-mount equipment that has passed several rigorous High Impact Shock Tests for Shipboard Machinery/Systems meeting all requirements. Although all of this makes him a very competent and accomplished Engineer, his first love remains Music. Jay says, "Once I can finally stop 'working for the man' I will abandon the routine day-to-day Engineering gig for good and become a real 'starving-artist' and focus solely on music."
